Please read the NWI Psychology Internship brochure for 2019-2020 at the link below for complete information about the program.
The Psychology Internship is fully accredited by the APA Commission on Accreditation. The next site visit is scheduled for 2021.
The internship is designed to train “excellent generalists” prepared to provide services in any environment but particularly with a focus on serving rural Veterans. Graduates have gone on to various specialty post-docs as well as into VA and non-VA entry-level psychologist positions, rural and non-rural. The Grand Island and Lincoln Interns each complete three 4-month rotations in General Mental Health (GMH), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI). The Norfolk Intern does not have rotations but attains the same competencies, while embedded within a rural Community Based Outpatient Clinic (or CBOC) primary care setting throughout the training year. All Interns also participate in a year-long Assessment Clinic approximately 8 hours per week, and come together for didactics and group supervision.
We offer a single unified internship with 7 Interns at three training sites. Different match numbers allow applicants to specify their interest in one, two or all three sites.
- 3 Interns at the Grand Island VA Medical Center
- 3 Interns at the Lincoln VA Clinic
- 1 Intern at the Norfolk VA Clinic
An 8th temporary position was funded for the Omaha VAMC for the 2018-19 training year. We do not know if this will be re-funded and will let applicants know through the Match News if this becomes available.
Application Deadline: November 12
